Thank You for your continued support and contributions!
Your sansa should be working properly prior to installation. Try formatting the device from within Sansa's firmware. It sounds like you might have file system corruption. After that, I expect that installing Rockbox should work.
Does the SanDisk firmware boot? There should be an item under its System menu, if I recall correctly.
A badly corrupted file system can cause this. You can reformat the file system using recovery mode:http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/SansaE200Unbrick#Recovery_ModeNote that using the Windows format tool in recovery mode will very nearly destroy your device, so you must follow those directions to format the player safely using its build in tool.
As I said above, you probably need to reformat the player using recovery mode.
Ok, i already have an .mi4 file for my device which i obtained from the SanDisk forums, but the zip also included a .rom file called "BL_SD_boardSupportSD.rom", which, according to the instructions, i should not copy. i guess it's irrelevant, but i wonder what that file is?
another question, hopefully the last: to format, should i use a text file, or a file folder [i.e. sansa.fmt]?
