I been waiting for that same thing. This would be the perfect player if they could get the usb working and make the internal an external memory load as one drive.

This is already possible, but does not work in 100% of the cases that have tried it.

Setup a development environment and apply this patch.

Your mileage may vary, it may work for you, it may not.

FS#11664 has been closed (thank you!) and USB Mass Storage seems to be working on my Fuze v2.

Would it be appropriate to remove the || defined(SANSA_FUZEV2) from line 276 in rbutil/mkamsboot/dualboot/dualboot.S, and build/post a new mkamsboot ?

[EDIT: I've done so, built a new bootloader, installed it, and tested on my Fuze v2. I can confirm that behavior is as expected: when plugged in to computer, it boots into Rockbox USB mode. Plugged into Griffin iTrip car adapter, boots into Rockbox normal mode (alas, lineout still doesn't work). Power button + left button boot into OF.]

Okay, it's not quite time yet to enable USB-on-boot. I've seen occasional crashes on boot:

Data abort
at 300600DC
FSR 0x8
(domain 0, fault 8)
address 0xFFFFBF78

Associated message from /var/log/messages :

Dec 17 15:47:20 r kernel: usb 1-3.3: device descriptor read/64, error -110

There appears to be no lasting harm from this: shutting down the Fuze player works fine, restart works fine, and USB works fine (sporadically) on subsequent attempts.

Awesome! Thanks to devs.  :-*

BTW if you just wanna charge you simply keep any button pressed while plugging in.

Lineout doesn't work at all. This patch http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/12074 gives you a menu option to enable/disable line out, but you have to manually click-select-etc every time you switch between car adapter and headphones. There isn't (yet) any way to autodetect a car adapter.

Saw that USB support was finally enabled on the FuzeV2, so I went to update everything... Updated the bootloader and rockbox to r31426, but it still boots to the OF when I plug in the USB cord while it's off. I don't see any commits after r31379 that touch the bootloader stuff, and I even rebuilt the bootloader myself to see if maybe the version on the site got rolled back, but I can't for the life of me get it to boot to Rockbox when it boots with the USB cord plugged in...

Any idea what's going on, or what I can do to narrow this down?

Did you build a new mkamsboot, and use that new mkamsboot to build your new bootloader?

Whoops. Built Rockbox and the bootloader, but not mkamsboot. Works great now.

little little, bug!
if i plug-in now my fuzev2 (stat:Off), with my PC (ubuntu Lucid), it boot Rockbox and begin automatic resume play, but it doesnt connect to PC!

if i plug-out, and again plug-in (stat:On), then Rockbox connect to PC, and i can see internal and external drive!

if i plug-in (stat:On), to my usb-Charger he only Charge and Play, but not connect!

i dont understand, why he doesnt see, data-connection at rockbox-boot! ???
it is a little little bug ;D, but should be fixed before its gone to stable version!
little info, pressing "left button" at power-on, lets boot OF.

sorry, for my insufficient english!
SansaFuzeV2 boot=sansa02.03.33+b17bdb9-120114+mkamsboot1.5 and RB=r31584-120105

I am having troubles with this.  I just updated to 3.10 (I know, I'm behind) and cannot get the USB to work in RB.  I first used the rbutility and had no luck so I removed eveything, installed the ost recent sansa firmware and went back to rbutility.  No luck.  I then got the most recent mkamsboot and use it and still cannot get the USB to work.

One thing that is strange, when I connect with the sansa firmware, I get a strange error that says the sansaconnect cannot find the device.  However, I get my folders to appear.

Thanks for any help.

3.10 does not have USB support, only builds from December onward have it:
