left audio channel dead (Sansa E280v1)

(1/1)

rasferret:
Yesterday evening the left audio channel of my sansa died. It looks like a transducer or inducer (the one below the lower right corner of the display) got broken. Does anyone know which electrical component this is? Is there a chance to repair it? It would be sad to dump the player.

greetings

rasferret

jhMikeS:
I think you gave 'er all she's got Captain! The inducers are completely cooked and they can't be brought back online without returning to a starbase!

A distinct possibility: Maybe it's a broken headphone jack? Check the solder joints to the board.

soap:
While it is entirely possible there is a different cause, these players are famous for headphone jack pads separating from the board.

rasferret:
inducer seems to be the wrong term  ::). It shoud've been inductor, my bad...

I've already resoldered  the headphone jack. I'm pretty sure that's not the problem. The signal came back when I was touching the inductor with my fingers. After resoldering it too, it finally died.

jhMikeS:
What sort of inductor? If it's a wound wire one maybe you knocked the wire from the pad. With some care it might be possible to restore it.
