Sansa Fuze or Clip+?

(1/2) > >>

2facedmayor:
Hey all,

My Rockboxed Sansa Fuze v2 was recently stolen. I loved the crap out of it, and was planning on getting a new 8 gig one, which would most likely be a refurbished v2. However, I've been hearing good things about the Clip+.

What do you think?

saratoga:
Unless you need a bigger color screen, the clip+ is generally more useful since its much smaller and actually clips on.  Aside from that theres not much difference between them.  The hardware is basically identical internally.

sockbox:
The life expectancy of a clip+ is less than 2 yrs. If the non-serviceable battery doesn't die first then something else will render it useless, eg. clip will break, headphone-jack input will wear loose, it'll go through the wash. This thing is not built to last like the Fuze and E200.

I have a clip+, love it, but am very careful with it since I've already replace it twice. Both times they sustained water damage that caused the first to die and the second to skip tracks on it own. The first one got dunked into a creek, and the second went through the wash. My fault.

It's strong point is it's size. I use it for the gym and for running. I can't image going back to my E280.

Rockbox does not yet support USB on the clip or Fuzev2. You have to boot to the OF to add files. It's not a big deal but it's an annoyance when the OF tries to refresh the DB. There are workarounds for this.

Bolec:
It depends what are your preferences, music taste. Clip+ is pretty much the most neutral player in the world. It plays the files exactly the way they should be played. I don't know how to say it. It doesn't colorize the sound, like many other players do. It might be good or bad, depending on what you like. Altough with rockbox onboard you can pretty much adjust it to any taste. It's best not to use it with low/bass playing headphones like Sennheiser PX100.

Mr Whippy:
I've got way more than 2 hours out of a charge!
