Adding Rename to WPS Context Menu

(1/2) > >>

sqgl:
This is a simple idea that hopefully has been merely overlooked and is easy to implement.

Currently renaming a file is only possible in the File Browser Context Menu but it would make just as much sense to also include rename to the While Playing Screen Context Menu. Often a user will want to simply rename a song they are listening to but is currently forced to navigate the filesystem heirarchy first (which does not even default to the now-playing directory).

If you read the entire manual before posting, you'd already know this... Options -> General Settings -> File View -> Follow Playlist set to Yes will browse to the folder and select the file that is playing, when file browser is called from the WPS.

After enabling that setting, to rename a file that is playing, open the file browser from the WPS, open the context menu for that file and select "Rename"... no need to browse to the file's folder manually.

sqgl:
Thanks, that does help a little by taking one to the folder but it does not take you to the file. This is not as big a deal with CD albums but with podcasts the filename often bears no resemblance to the ID3 tag and there are often too many files in the folder to make counting to the n'th one practical.

To be able to access rename from the WPS Context menu is a sensible option that would be useful to have.

Llorean:
It should take you to the file. How are you getting to the browser after enabling it?

sqgl:
I get to the browser by short-clicking the power button then selecting "Files". It happens on both FW versions of Sansa that I own.
