Mapping up/down Button to scroll in Sansa e250

(1/2) > >>

mild4u:
Hi,

I have sansa e250 and just installed rockbox. I want to use up / down buttons to scroll since the sansa wheel has bit of a problem.
I found this: http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?topic=26377.0 but the process looks too complicated. I have Vista and cannot have VM.
What's easiest way to get the source code? Is it directly available like a zip file?

OR
Can anyone do this modification and provide me the installation?

Thanks.

It really isn't...its one of the more trivial modifications one unfamiliar with the project could encounter, perfect for getting ones feet wet.

So...use a linux distro live-CD instead.

Using either git or subversion, in your linux distro.

Thanks St.
Finally, I got a chance to get ubuntu and source and now I have access to apps/keymaps/keymap-e200.c
Any suggestion on what exactly I should be modifying?

What I want is to use Up button to scroll up when I am inside some folder e.g. Files/microDd/ I have ll my albums, I want to move up or down using the UP and DOWN buttons. Similarly if I am inside an album, I want to navigate the songs in there.

I am looking into the file and trying to understand. I also tried changing one setting and did build/compilation following LinuxSimpleGuideToCompiling and installed the new build but didn't have any success.

Any ideas?

There was a discussion about this in the #rockbox irc channel lately.

You can look at the irc logs for a possible solution: http://www.rockbox.org/irc/log-20110706#03:46:43

I tried suggestion in that irc log to simply disalbe scrolling. I don't see any change in behavior.
What would be the smallest possible change I can do which could be visible after installing the new build.
I want to make sure my build process is correct.
