clip+ connect, load files?
(1/1)
abaljeu:
Summary: I have music on it, but I can't connect to computer in Rockbox mode, and can't find music in Sansa mode.
Before Rockbox, I had it working okay with the MSC mode, loading music, and audio files, but the player didn't do mp4 and was a pain to play audiobook files.
So I installed Rockbox, and it instantly recognized all my old music and books and I could play them great. Then I activated the database and that goes great. Now I want to install more stuff. If I connect to the computer while Rockbox is on, nothing happens except charging. If I turn it off and connect, it boots in old mode and I can put files in, but all my old files are missing.

I believe USB is not yet supported by Rockbox on Sansa Clip+. All it does is charging. To use USB and load files, you must boot into the original firmware like you did.

I'm in the same situation and using Media Monkey to sync.
First of all, I don't see where you can change the the USB mode in RB, only in OF.
1. In MSC using OF, I get 2 drive letters. I can see a number of folders including .rockbox, but no music files. Not sure I've tried adding files in this mode.
2. In MSC using RB, I don't get a connection.
3. In MTP using OF, I see the device and can browse down and see the music files. I have added files in this mode.
4. In MTP using RB, I don't see the device.
If this is a limitation for the current Clip+ port, I can live with it. If it's something I'm missing, please clue me in.
An anomaly I've noticed is a very few directories and filenames are prefixed with eight seemingly random alphanumeric characters plus an underscore. Doesn't seem to bother the database, though. Also doesn't show up when I'm browsing the device filestructure in Windows.
I'm still learning RB and have been very pleased with it thus far (24 hours). Thanks for all the effort that went into it!!

Right, it's a OF setting because we're using the OF to do USB.

This is the mode and the firmware you need to be using to add music. Hopefully you're not seeing music files because you haven't added any! ;)

Right. To be expected.

Delete the files added in this mode (for sanity) and readd them in OF MSC

Again, to be expected because Rockbox has no USB mode on this port at this time and the OF setting has no influence on RB's behavior.

Likely an aspect of using MTP mode. If you delete the files added in said mode and add them back from MSC this won't happen (I bet).

Thanks for the help. I hope to have some more time to spend on it tomorrow, so I'll see how it works out.
