Sansa Clip+: Number Interpretation / Songs not sorted correctly

(1/2) > >>

M.D.:
Hi guys.

Now I've wanted to give Rockbox a try once again, first time I somehow didn't want to keep it. But battery duration and last.fm scrobbling are things that convinced me to want to change from the standard firmware - or try so, one way or another.

Now I'm having the same issues I've had when I first tried Rockbox about a year ago: The player is adjusted fine, everything works well and looks the way I want it to (well, almost). But when I'm trying to select songs in the database, they're not sorted correctly. I've got  lots of albums in their  respective folders, all tagged correctly (!). The orignal firmware has no problems at all sorting these the right way. Now if one of those albums has up to 9 songs in it, everything works fine. But when I've got 10 or more songs on an album (which is quite often, you see) the following occurs:

--- Code: ---1. Song 1
10. Song 10
11. Song 11
12. Song 12
...
19. Song 19
2. Song 2
20. Song 20
21. Song 21
22. Song 22
...
29. Song 29
3. Song 3
30. Song 30
31. Song 31
...

--- End code ---

...and so on, you see the issue. I tried changing that "number interpretation" setting and even rebuilding the database after changing that setting, but it didn't help a bit. Like I said, the files are definetely, 100%, tagged correctly. When using the original firmware and database, there is no problem at all. But Rockbox seems to have problems understanding that ten follows nine, not one. I'm using the latest build, used the rockbox automated installer software, everything else is working fine and I'm positively sure that everything is installed and tagged correctly.

Any idea on how to fix this issue? Kindof annoying that I always have to browse through the "Files" to find my stuff. There, things are sorted correctly again (by filename, that is).

saratoga:
I just tried on my player, and track numbers such as "9" get correctly expanded to "09" for sorting.  Are you using a custom tagnavi file (perhaps one that defines different sorting logic?)  Are you sure the tags are actually being used for sorting (verses falling back to file names?)

M.D.:
I think I've found what caused the issue.

Looks like I've had all my songs tagged with "1", "2", "3" and so on on the tag "track" and also "discnumber". Original firmware doesn't seem to care about the "discnumber" tag, but Rockbox obviously does. So for some reason, when removing the tag "discnumber", everything is sorted just fine.

Could you post two of these files (ideally track 9 and 10)?

Could this be the same issue?
