iPod nano 8g out of space. rock box?

hi guys,

my nano 8g, think it is a 4 th gen IE colour screen and square, has run out of space .

I've been searching for a new device but can't find one that will work with iTunes files and that isn't an
overpriced 5th gen nano. plus don't need a huge classic device.

so was wondering if rock box can help, and will it work on this device?
