stkov dircache

(1/1)

Misspell:
While playing around making a skin, i rebooted my iPod and received the "PANIC stkov dircache" error.
Tried to fix it (editing config.cfg (disabling anything with cache), re-installing bootloader and RockBox), to no avail and just did a fresh format, iTunes restore and reloaded RockBox... not a big deal since i was just playing around and was not worried about my data, but...
What caused this, and is there a way to fix it aside from wiping and starting over ?

JdGordon:
you should never have to reinstall the bootloader unless a new one is released. You also dont need to "reinstall" rockbox (i.e unzip rockbox.zip). Worst case should be delete config.cfg and nvram.bin and you're good to go.

sideral:
Which version of Rockbox are you using?

There's a known issue with dircache in current SVN revisions.  If you're using a post-3.9 build, I suggest to use the latest release (3.9) instead.  Alternatively, if you'd like to help debugging this issue, please head over to the tracker [1].

Removing the dircache setting from the config file won't disable it; the dircache is on by default.  You'll have to disable it explicitly (in system settings → disk).
