Stop media refresh when connecting Sansa Clip+

(1/1)

d_headshot:
Whenever I connect my clip+ to my computer to add files or charge it, it loads up to the original firmware and says "Refreshing Your Media." A windows notification pops up saying "USB Device not recognized or malfunctioned." I can only add files once the media refresh completes and then the USB device is then recognized. How can I stop this?

Couple of options...

A. You can fill the onboard memory completely. Boot to rockbox and rename all the ## system folders. The OF needs at least 90mb to refresh. If there is no room for it to update its database it won't be able to boot into OF or refresh.

I'm using a bat file in xp to create a bunch of null files to fill the onboard memory. I just delete the files when I need space, but all my media is stored on microSD so I rarely need to delete. I'll attach my script, just change the extension from txt to bat.

B. Install a build with USB support. These are custom builds for now until the official release supports USB on the clip.

C. Check this thread out.

Thanks for the tips. I'll definitely try them out but it seems a bit awkward to have it completely filled all the time. Hows the progress on working on getting a stable/official USB build?
