Please Help Me Remove Bootloader

(1/1)

kauaiocean:
Hello all,

I need some help. I want to remove Rockbox completely. I had version 1.2.8 installed on my Ipod Nano 2nd Gen. I downloaded the new 1.2.10 and tried to uninstall the bootloader and rockbox. However, after pressing "remove the bootloader", i got "uninstalling bootloader" and then "unknown version number in firmware (0)".

I then decided to restore my ipod from itunes. I booted the nano back into the ipod default boot firmware and restored it from itunes. everything went fine. I clicked "uninstall rockbox from your audio player" and it completed a full uninstallation. however, it notified me that the bootloader would need to be removed manually. when i once again tried to "remove the bootloader", I got the same "unknown version number in firmware (0)" message.

I downloaded the ipodpatcher and ran it as administrator by right clicking my mouse on the program. it says "[err] fatal: permission denied on 1 device(s) and no ipod detected.
[err] you need to run this program with administrator priviledges!"

can someone walk me through getting rid of the rockbox bootloader. i want to gift it to someone and they dont have the brain power to work rockbox.

If you restored your iPod with iTunes then AFAIK the Rockbox bootloader should be gone.  Does the Apple firmware not boot properly?
