I have this problem as well and chalk it up to the software being very beta. It's a little frustrating and inconvenient but a small price to pay for being able to use Rockbox on my Droid Bionic. I've always missed it since my F40 decided to give out on me last year.
crap, i only just saw your reply here... but thanks for commenting, it's nice to know that it's not just me having the issue, and (for what it's worth) that it's not just on the Thunderbolt.  I'm only now about to upgrade to the latest build (even though it's more than 2 weeks old now) and maybe, just maybe, that might fix it?  It seems doubtful but I'll hope.

Edited to add:  The most recent build (as mentioned, it's from a few weeks ago now), doesn't *seem* to still have my aforementioned error, but it *seems* to now simply crash on any track change (manual or automatic, even when crossfade is disabled).  I need to test this out a bit more, of course, but was wondering if anyone else could confirm or reproduce this.

Indeed.. track change no longer crashes, but my previous bug is now reproducible again (but then, i'm not sure my inability to reproduce it on the 1-2 build wasn't just a fluke).

First, thank you for your work rasher.
I hope sometime I will also be able to compile Rockbox. I hang at an error with the variable for the Android SDK at the config. I have not so much free time to test something after my work. :(

Now the sad thing... in some cases it still crash . I have no idea why.

Just a note: The sound of mp4-video-files is played by rockbox, but it tends to crash the whole GUI of rockbox on android from time to time (black screen instead of rockbox, but sound plays on).

Would it be possible to have a 1280x752 build (Samsung Galaxy 7.7)?

Thank you for your time and builds!

Update:

Nevermind (I guess).  I see a reviews where the screen resolution is specified at 1280x752 or 1280x800.  I've been informed that the bar at the bottom makes  the height 752.  Running the 1280x800 installation of RaaA results in a message about stretching or zooming the image.

Would one get that message if using no theme but the Rockbox default?  We'll find out, I guess.

I'm working on a 1280x800 theme.

You're right, the full resolution is 1280x800 but the bar at the bottom (status bar? button bar? I'm not sure of the official name) takes up some of the 800 pixels. This can actually be removed/hidden if your device is rooted.

The Zoom/Stretch dialogue can be safely ignored, and please keep us updated about a 1280x800 theme, since I'm very interested in using RB on my GTab 10.1 :)

On my Samsung Galaxy S the most recent builds all crash on any track change (manual or automatic). This was previously reported as being fixed. Does anybody else still have this problem like me?

I installed rockbox completley new (deleting the whole rockbox directory on my sd card) but still have this problem. I am running Android 2.3.6.

With version 5513c6d of March 23, 2012 rockbox does no longer crash on track changes  :)

But it still crashes on long pressing the play/pause button (which previously stopped playback). Does anybody else also have the "crash on stop" problem?

Has anyone noticed different scroll behavior between Gingerbread and Honeycomb?

On my Samsung Galaxy 5 Player 2.3.5 device (480x800 build) scrolling through the file browser is smooth.

On my Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 3.2 device (1280x800) scrolling through the file browser is jerky and goes back to the top of the file list.

I tried the 480x800 build on the 1280x800 device and the scrolling is still jerky.

These are default installs with the latest builds of each, no theme installed -- whatever is installed by default.

Post Merge: April 02, 2012, 03:05:27 PM
Would it be possible to add a 800x1280 build (portrait)?

Thank you!

There's a bug with kinetic scrolling and scrollbar on the left somewhere in the code.

Seems to working OK (so far) on Android 4.0.3 (ICS).

I'm wondering about the resolution and the effect of the status bar.

Instead of custom resolutions how about a range of builds of 4:3, 16:9, and 16:10 for small, medium, large resolutions screens.  Then, create a theme that will fit the screen resolution.

For example, if my Android tablet had a screen that was 1024x768 I could install a 1280x800 Rockbox build and design a theme for the 1024x768, right?  There might be some wasted memory but it should work, right?

Thank you!

I tried version bb0e4cc of April 6, 2012 and now long pressing the play/pause button does no longer result in crashing rockbox but stops playback. This is great!

With version 73732f4-120412 (or another version after bb0e4cc-120406) the bug has been reintroduced. Rockbox crashes again when long pressing the play/pause button instead of stopping playback.  :(

With version e92fbb4-120417 rockbox still crashes on long pressing the play/pause button on my Samsung Galaxy S running Android 2.3.6 (JW4). Going back to bb0e4cc-120406  :(
