winxp: patch applying issue

(1/1)

Minzh:
When i'm trying to do it with patch v2.5.9, i'm getting

--- Quote ---c:\Program Files\SlikSvn\bin\rockbox>patch --dry-run -p 0 < meier_v2.patch
patching file apps/lang/english.lang
Assertion failed: hunk, file ../patch-2.5.9-src/patch.c, line 354

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

Why?

bluebrother:
You really should use Cygwin when working on Windows, and you shouldn't use a Windows svn client to get the sources. However, using a Linux VM is highly recommended.

Because some assertation in the patch code triggered. You might want to ask the guys working on patch about that.

Bug in your patch client.  But more importantly, don't use Windows patch.

Minzh:
Ok.  I have installed vmware player and launched http://duke.edu/~mgg6/rockbox/rockbox-image.7z or http://mikachu.rockbox.org/debian-5.0.4.7z . What's next? How to download patch under vmlinux, apply, build and upload to device?
