[SOLVED]Clip+ and Lock

(1/1)

h8uthemost:
Hey guys,

First off I want to thank the makers of Rockbox. It's an excellent firmware. My Clip+ arrived yesterday, and I threw on Rockbox today since I've read that the Clip+ is optimized all that well with Vorbis. That the battery drains faster when using this format, and this problem doesn't happen on Rockbox.

So I've been playing with it and it's pretty great. There's a ton of options and customization.

Anyways on to my question. How exactly do you lock the interface with Rockbox/Clip+? I'm not seeing it in the manual(although I may be being blind), and when I hold the Home button it's not locking. Like it does with original firmware.

So is there a way to lock out the interface with Rockbox?

Thanks for the help.

EDIT: Well, I was browsing the theme page for Clip+, and one of the themes said Lock is Select+Home. So I tried it and it works. Finally I found it! But...I'm not sure why the devs would make the Lock work like that. Why not just hold Home for a couple seconds to Lock like on the OF? It's easier than having to use both hands to simultaneously hit two buttons.

Chronon:
There's a ton of information in the manual.  Long Home is used to enter the Quick Screen.

h8uthemost:
Yeah I read that. But that quick screen is pretty useless to me as I don't use Shuffle or Random, but I know it's useful for others. Wish there was a setting where you could choose what button(s) you want to assign to Lock.

Chronon:
Did you also read that you can assign different functions to the quick screen?

The only way to change the key map is to edit the source code and build your own Rockbox.

h8uthemost:
Actually no, I didn't come across that. I kind of skimmed through it as I was going to be leaving soon. But that's excellent you can do that. I'll have to sit through and carefully read through the whole manual as I"m sure there are a bunch of things that Rockbox can do.

I wouldn't know what to edit even if I did look in the source code I'm sure, so I"ll just have to get used to hitting Select along with Home to lock it up.

Thanks for the help Chronon. I appreciate it.

EDIT: I do have one more question that has nothing to do this. And I thought I would ask here instead of making another thread.

This is about themes. I found a theme that I like that shows everything that I want in the WPS screen. But...it also affects the other menus. It only shows two items on the screen, meaning you have to do a lot of scrolling.

So I thought if I changed to a smaller font this would fix it. But it hasn't. There are still only two items shown at any time. So is there anything I can do to where more options can be shown on screen making it to where there's less scrolling?

I've been through settings, but everything I've chose so far hasn't worked. So hopefully someone that is more familiar with Rockbox will know if there's anything that I can do or if I'll have to change themes.

Thanks.

EDIT AGAIN: Sweet! I found how to fix it. I'll leave my above edit incase someone else has the same problem.

Here's the solution that I found. In the theme settings there's setting where you can use a theme just for the WPS. So I chose a theme for the menus that show six items(so less scrolling), then I picked the theme I wanted just for the WPS.

Very nice. The more I explore Rockbox the more I'm liking it. It's a really cool firmware.
