From the main page:
Stable ports
Rockbox runs well on these players, has a complete manual and is supported by the installer:
Apple: iPod 1g through 5.5g, iPod Mini, iPod Nano 1g and iPod Nano 2g
Archos: Jukebox 5000, 6000, Studio, Recorder, FM Recorder, Recorder V2 and Ondio
Cowon: iAudio X5, X5V, X5L, M5, M5L, M3 and M3L
iriver: iHP100 series, H100 series, H300 series and H10 series
Olympus: M:Robe 100
Packard Bell: Vibe 500
SanDisk: Sansa c200 (not v2), e200 and e200R series, Fuze, Clip and Clip+
Toshiba: Gigabeat X and F series
The port for this device has been stable for some time now, you have not mentioned if you are using a release build or a daily build. The release build *should* be relatively free from error, if you are using a daily build then your chances of encountering a bug are a lot higher, but that doesn't make the build "Unstable".
If you look again at the main page, the definition for unstable ports is as follows:
"Rockbox runs on these players, but is incomplete, less usable or has problems that limit it to advanced users"
The Clip+, despite bugs that may or may not be introduced in the daily builds between releases, does not fit this category.

Based on what I've found after about eight hours of research and work, I do not believe you will get rockbox to work on your player. At first I believed it was because there was a new firmware version that is included on the devices currently being sold. But after downgrading the firmware to an older version and then using the sandisk official firmware updater to update it to version 15, which is, reportedly, the version rockbox for clip plus was designed around, it still fails. So there is more at work here. Rockbox will completely install, and the necessary firmware bin will go into the clip plus root directory as necessary. But rockbox simply will not boot. Couple other similar experiences described here and on anythingbutipod.com. I also found a few other examples by google search, so I think the problem is pretty universal with the clip plus units being purchased now.
The developers may or may not come up with a fix. I doubt that it would come soon in any event, as I don't think its a high priority. My advice, to save yourself time and frustration, would be to stick to the sandisk firmware or to buy another device for which rockbox would work, assuming there hasn't been any type of revision to that device which will cause a similar problem to happen.
AlexP:
There is a new bootloader in the process of being released.

Ok I think you haven't understood what we're talking about. You have the same problem as other people have reported and it can be easily fixed. YOu need to install a newer bootloader. You can't do that with rockbox utility which is why you're having this problem. You can either:
1) Wait for us to release the newer bootloader and then use rockbox utility
2) Follow the instructions in this thread to update your booatloader manually: http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?topic=27926.0
And next time, if you haven't tried the fix, don't say things like "the suggestions made on other threads aren't working". If you had just told us that it didn't work and you hadn't tried to fix it, I could have told you what to do and you would have resolved it days ago. Instead I thought you had found a new problem, not that you just didn't understand what we were talking about.

I apologize for my mistake. I was under then impression that an automatic install was supposed to work - somehow in my reading I either did not come across or did not put together that a manual install of the bootloader you linked was needed. Sorry for misleading you and if I came on too strong.
Using what you posted I have been able to install and boot and it is working properly.
Again, sorry for my errors, and thank you for your help.
