Add to personal playlist with one button / Volume Control without display
« on: June 20, 2011, 04:59:58 PM »
Dear Rockbox team,

I'm very satisfied with Rockbox on my mp3 player (therefore I own the Clip/Fuze)
But there are 2 things which maybe could make Rockbox perfect   ;D

1) Personal playlist;
Normally when I browse to a folder and select it, all files in it are added to the dynamic playlist.
But when I like a song in the folder/playlist , it would be great to add it to a personal playlist I
predefined.  So I would have a dynamic playlist and a personal playlist.
At this moment selecting a folder will kill my personal playlist and otherwise.
Also adding with 1 button longpress would be great.

2) Whenever I change volume or skip track my Sandisks (Fuze/Clip) displays +
clickwheels lits. Is it possible to keep the display off in these situations when one of these
    4 buttons is pressed?

I hope these features will be implemented in the future (Personal playlist  ;D ;D ;D).

Best regards and keep up the superb work.

Maurice.

1) You can do this with  the playlist catalog (which is admitedl not very good currently). Create a playlist then long-select on the track you want to add, go "playlist catalog" > "add to Playlist" then select the playlist you want.
http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/11808 is a patch to try to make playlist handling better which is somewhat related to this (any suggestions are welcome).

2) I *believe* there is a patch somewhere which does this but it wont be accepted in its current form. There are technical issues with how to do this, but recent changes make this a bit easier to deal with (i.e when you press right, how does it know you're skipping track or selecting a menu item?)

Using PMs to annoy devs about bugs/patches is not a good way to have the issue looked at.

Once again much thanks for all your support and help!

As follow up on one button play list just wonder if you could help with following:
From WPS one button press (eg Long Play) to save playing song in to defined playlist (eg Favorites.m3u8)

I did extensive search but found only below workaround:
http://www.rockbox.org/mail/archive/rockbox-archive-2003-07/0930.shtml

As possible solution I wonder if someone could point best way to invoke above favorites.c from WPS -> Long Play.
