I believe I understand the manual install process although I don't get the command line part of your explanation. Could you elablorate a bit? I can get to the zipfile on my desktop via cmd window, but not sure how that changes things. Also I may be handling it wrong because when I type in the path to the zip file and hit return, it opens a window with .rockbox in it...or is that the point?

When I disconnected the player it did not go through the firmware installation, nor did I find rockbox folder on my player. So I'm still doing something wrong....
If I put the player in MSC, I get "removable disk (H)" and am unable to do anything. Clicking on it of course says 'please insert a disk into...."
