Can't get out of Dynamic Playlist mode

I've been using my Sansa Fuse v2 for about six months with no problems. I love it. (it's on 3.8.1)

But today I did something and I can't get out of Dynamic Playlist mode. I just want to click on files and play them. I want to go into a directory and play the songs in the directory. Whatever this mode is, it's fricking sucky and it sucks that I can't get out of it.

At this point I am ready to give up and just go to the very very dumb Sansa OS.

I think dynamic playlist is always enabled.

You getting a "Erase Dynamic playlist?" prompt each time you load an album? There is a setting to turn that off in the menu under Settings > General Settings > Playlists > Warn when erasing dynamic playlist. Make sure it's set to No.

Hopefully that helps

You might want to reiterate your problem. I have no idea what the problem is: I can play files from the file browser just fine on any of my devices. And since Rockbox playback is heavily playlist centric (which you usually don't notice because of the dynamic playlist) you can't get out of any "dynamic playlist mode" since there is no such mode.

You might have enabled Party Mode by accident, but your post isn't really helpful in finding any hints what your real problem is so this is just guessing.

That fixed it. Thank you very much.  :)

Just to reiterate my problem: When I went to Files -> Music (a folder) -> Bush (Another folder) -> Sixteen Stone:  Then nothing. I could only select the folder. It would go no further and not allow me to select the files in that folder. Basically I was stuck, I think, adding individual folders rather than files.

That said, it's weird because after I tried what Jim suggested, it worked just fine. To recreate the problem, I changed the "Warn when erasing dynamic playlist" setting back to yes, and it still works fine, no matter what I do. I know that sometimes Rockbox can be .... finicky about settings. For instance if you set repeat to one, you have to go and select the file want to repeat before it will repeat the song. Instead of just logically repeating the song that is currently playing.
Perhaps the reason why this won't recreate the problem has to do with something like that. I'll go to the gym and use my Sansa for a while and see if happens again and report back.

Thanks everyone for your help!

This is not true on any of my targets, nor would I expect it to be.
It might be interesting if you posted your config.cfg here for viewing...I have a bunch of targets here to test this on, and I simply can't verify that.

"Warn when erasing dynamic playlist" shouldn't have anything to do with the behaviour you describe either, it's simply a setting that warns you with a Yes/No screen when you're about to blow away the current dynamic playlist.
