Preserve Battery on ipod classic 6
« on: June 06, 2011, 09:37:44 AM »
Hi ! I'm using ROCKbox on my Ipod classic 6 black (160 GB)

(I had install it with http://www.freemyipod.org/wiki/EmCORE )

My problem is that Rockbox consumes a lot of battery, with this firmware it turn off after 10 hours..
Instead with apple firmware i think not less 30 hours, and i don't know why...

I have just set lcd, folder cash, automatic power off... ecc..

Thanks to all...

a)  This is nothing to do with Rockbox Utility

b)  This is one of the reasons that the ipod classic is in the unusable category.

I don't believe the OP said anything at all about Rockbox Utility.
I also noticed a substantial decrease in the battery life on my 80gig classic but with the  drastically improved sound quality, more games and better apps I find it hard to even reconsider going back to the Apple firmware just for more battery life.
If the progress has been made to get Rockbox this far onto the 6th gen then we can't be too far off yet from a fully stable release.
My only issue with using Rockbox is that anytime its plugged in whether its to my computer or the FM transmitter in the car it will do nothing but show the USB screen...

Yeah which is why he shouldn't have posted it in the Rockbox Utility forum ;)

Hold down any button while plugging in.  Its in the manual under charge mode IIRC.

On my computer this topic is showing up under the General forum, not Utility.
What ever the case, I'll try the holding down a button thing but I turned on the car adapter mode and it will play through it unless its plugged in all the way, halfway and it works.

That is because AlexP moved it to the correct forum.  Here's the notice that accompanied the change:
http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php/topic,28135.0.html

If you hold a button while plugging in the cable you should be able to insert it fully.

Ah, fair enough. Not familiar with the forum yet, soz guyz.
Super, be trying that next time I'm in the lady's car. I'm really liking Rockbox so much more than the Apple firmware, can't wait for it to be fully stable.
