continuous recording
« on: June 04, 2011, 08:37:00 AM »
Hello,

I would like to be able to continuously record my voice notes in such a way, that a new file is started when the dB trigger fires.

Currently it is possible to use the 'Pause' trigger to pause when nothing is being said - this is as closest as I can get to my goal - but in this case the time information is lost from my voice notes.

Would it be possible to have a trigger that combines a 'start new file' and a 'pause' triggers somehow, so that I end up with many small files with just my voice recorded throughout the day?

Another thread suggested using a cue file to log when the 'pause' event has fired - that would achieve the same goal.

Can something like this be done?

Many thanks,
Kirill

It sounds like you could find it already does what you are looking for in the triggered recording settings - see e.g.: Trigger section in our manual (this is the part in the Clip+ manual but it is the same on all recording targets, chose your player from the daily manual main page).

Please, also pay attention to the link to our wiki at the bottom as the manual is a bit coarse in this section.

I have looked at the manual and wiki, but it does not seem to solve by problem.

One has the choice between a 'pause' trigger, and a 'split file' trigger. The 'split file' indeed preserves the time in the filename, but records gaps.

The 'pause' trigger does what I need quite well - records without recording silence, but does not preserve timestamps of when something was uttered.

It would be great if it were possible to somehow combine the two - to split into files as well as not record silence.
