SSD for xPod video - will it work ?

(1/2) > >>

PetrusL:
My better half won a 120GB xPod Classic a couple of years ago,
but never used it because she refuses to install the xTunes store-front
unless apple pays her monthly rent for the space,
and it didn't support our formats of choice either (wav-pack and FLAC, in that order) ..
Well, now it has been running emCore/rockbox for a month and she's loving it,
despite the bugs and missing video-playback..

I like it to, but prefer the sound of the wolfson DAC so my plan is to buy a cheap used xPod Video,
refurb and xMod it .. Also, I would like not to have a mechanical HDD-drive in it !

So my question to the experts on the inner workings of xPod storage is :
Do you see any reason this little gem shouldn't work ?

PS : We thank everybody involved in rockbox for their work :)

Llorean:
Please try to use real terms, like 'iPod' rather than 'xPod.' If there's ever a device called the xPod your terms will confuse searches, as well if anyone posts information about whether or not that drive works in this thread, people performing searches or non-native English speakers may miss out on the information because your term obfuscation creates an additional level of confusion. Things like calling Microsoft M$ and the iPod an xPod may feel good for whatever personal motivations but they just muddy the waters in a purely technical situation.

PetrusL:
Sorry, but I don't infringe on corporate trademarks ..
I'm really sorry that you don't understand what I'm talking about !!
Please delete my account here, I have no time to be lectured by smart-asses .

Chronon:
Llorean wasn't being a "smart-ass".  Calling a product by its branded name is not infringing on a trademark.  You still used a half dozen or so trademarks in your post, so it appears that you are just trying to troll.

For any other people who find this topic by searching for this SSD, I would expect this device to work with any Rockbox-capable player that takes 1.8" ZIF drives.

Llorean:
Seriously, it was just a really basic request to make forum searches more accurate, and decrease the chance of confusing people who don't know English well enough to be able to make the jump from xPod to iPod. Some people may even be using machine translation and not recognize English characters in the first place (this isn't too uncommon, we get a lot of traffic from Asian forums).
