Recording the number of times a song is played and rating songs
« on: May 28, 2011, 09:03:49 PM »
Has anyone created a patch or tinkered with the idea of recording how many times a song has been played, and perhaps displaying the current song's rank in the WPS?

Also (unrelated), I noticed while examining the database (which I never use), that it can categorize songs by rating.  How do you rate a song?  I know how to do this in my original Fuze v1 firmware, but I can't find how to do it in rockbox.

Without actually saying you should "RTFM", this is where reading the manual can help save time, effort, and possibly embarrassment.

Runtime data can already be gathered, but not by default, you need to enable it.

Settings - General Settings - Database - Gather Runtime Data

You can also set a track rating on the device already, however runtime data needs to be enabled prior to doing so for it to have any effect at all.
You can set the track rating via the WPS context menu.

Using PMs to annoy devs about bugs/patches is not a good way to have the issue looked at.
