Creating a playlist with all my music

(1/3) > >>

pwabrahams:
According to the manual, I should be able to create a playlist with all my music by going from the Main Menu to Playlists and then selecting Create Playlist.  But when I do that, nothing happens.  I've tried both Select and Long Select on Create Playlist, but neither of those seems to do anything, and when I look at the Playlist Catalog, nothing is there.  I do, however, get a 3-byte file named root.m3u8 in my root directory as seen over the USB connection.  What am I missing?  (This is on a Sansa Clip+.)

Creating such a playlist would be very handy since then I could create other playlists offline by editing the full one.

Chronon:
Load root.m3u8.  It is the playlist you created.

pwabrahams:
How can I load root.m3u8 if it doesn't show up in the playlist catalog?   And why doesn't it have all my music files?

Chronon:
You can load a playlist from any location using the file browser.  It's not necessary for a playlist to be in /Playlists/ in order for it to be loaded.

I don't think I can answer your second question with the available information.  Do some of your files have DRM?  Are some of them formats that are playable via a viewer plugin instead of a codec?  Basically, you should give us some idea of what sort of files are physically on your player but absent from root.m3u8 or nobody will be able to give you a decent answer.

pwabrahams:
All my music files are in .ogg form, ripped from CDs, so there shouldn't have been any DRM or plugin issues.

I managed to create a playlist of all files in a different way: by going to FILES, then root, then using the Context Menu (as I recall) to turn all the files into a playlist.  But I'm still wondering why the first method gave me that empty playlist.
