using sansa clip+ in car

Let me just say "me too" to this thread. The automatic on/off in the car with the charger is the killer app for Rockbox in my opinion, I've been using it with a Sansa c200 for years but the flash memory is finally going on my old one so I "upgraded" to a clip+. It mutes when you plug the power in via the car charger. I guess this isn't really a rockbox software problem, but it is a rockbox system problem.

Does it work in the sandisk firmware? If not its probably an electrical problem with your car.

Using a DC to DC converters that will isolate the car battery, imo is the best solution.  I would think there would be car power adapters with DC to DC isolation already to go but I did not find one for USB.

I found a DC to DC converter clips from www.digikey.com under $20

Max input 18V
Min  input 9V
Output 12V @ 250ma

I've seen Clip battery at 270ma/h and 330ma/h (Clip Zip).  It look like they're being charged at 1/2C or 2hours.  250ma should be an overkill(?)  Would 12V @ 165ma work?
any comments?

Maybe using a car DC to 120VAC adapter and a 120VAC wall USB charger will work.

Anybody tried that?

I will try that.

Since my last post i had the same problem but under different conditions:

I have two speakers powered by usb port.If i plug it on the same device (my pc) from which i'm listening my music, the sound is muted, like in car.If i plug it on another device (another computer): no problem.
