repairing sandisk e260v1
« on: May 25, 2011, 09:13:28 PM »
this little beast has been running for months just fine and this afternoon when I turn it on, it lit up with the hardware splash screen and stayed on that splash screen for about 45 minutes. When I finally got home, I could not turn it off without removing the battery. Plugging it into the USB port did nothing except turn on the control ring and its bright blue LED. My desktop couldn't see it as a USB device.

Is this puppy toast? All of my rare and precious bits I downloaded from the Internet are gone?

Let me know whether to try to fix it or to toss it. Many thanks

One simple thing to try is open the unit and press down on the board that is behind the display, as it comes loose (especially if you've dropped it like I have a couple of times).

See this thread: http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php/topic,21908.0.html

There's documentation at the PluginMpegplayer wiki page.  It gives instructions on how to transcode.
