« on: February 15, 2006, 04:23:30 AM »
Hello,

a few days ago i got an archos jukebox 6000 via ebay (okay okay ...). It works fine, but the transfer of mp3-files onto the disk is damn damn slow, i get crazy whe i have to do this!!!

Is there a chance to speed up the file transfer?

I'm afraid it's USB 1.1, and thus transfer speeds are unavoidably slow.  Sorry.

Get a 2.5" <=> 3.5" converter and connect the disk to your PC! :-)

Well, 600 - 800 KB/sec is really slow.

According to this site: http://www.everythingusb.com/usb2/faq.htm

USB 1.1 is between 1.5Mbps - 12Mbps.

USB1.1 "full speed" devices transfer data at 12MBit/s, which equals 1.5MByte/s raw speed. Due to the high protocol overhead of the USB mass storage device protocol (especially on USB1.1) the maximum net data transfer speed is ~1MByte/s. 800KByte/s is already quite close to that.
