You already had the Ipod connected to your computer, did you? Use the same cable. If it's USB you need to boot into the Apple firmware first. See the manual on how to do this. And *please* check the documentation first.

coolbox:
I connected with Apple firmware and then my computer did put my ipod on driveletter N:\ then I held down Menu and Play to reboot and the Ipod was gone. NO ipod on drive letter N:\! how to do this? Rockbox is properly installed. What to do? Same if I connect with Rockbox loaded....no ipod found?

Chronon:
Why did you reboot while your player was mounted to N:\?  You should safely remove it to avoid file system corruption.

If you reboot your player while it's connected you shouldn't be surprised if the USB session is lost.  As people have said, Rockbox doesn't have USB support for this player.  You need to use Apple's firmware for USB sessions.

coolbox:
How do I do then to get Rockbox to work with it???? As it is supported! Without using usb and there is no firewireport on it! Or is it possible to use the ipods bottom connector and then to my firewireport on my laptop??

Chronon:
Use the original firmware for USB session.  Transfer whatever you want to the player.  Safely remove the iPod.  Then reboot into Rockbox and use the files.
