Installation bricks Clipv2

(1/1)

wildbug:
I have now bricked my Sansa Clipv2 for the third time in a row trying to Rockbox it using the RB Utility.  The first time I thought maybe I forgot to reboot it after updating the Sansa firmware, but it's obviously not a fluke.  I've recovered it using the unbricking instructions.

What gives?  Is this a known issue?  FW is 02.01.35.  RBUtility versions 1.2.9 and 1.2.10 (this morning).

The same problem is posted in the manual installation subforum.

saratoga:
When your player is in the bricked state, can you dump the first 32MB of the exposed raw disk?  That should contain the flashed bin + bootloader.  From what you said, it sounds like that does not get properly written by your player for some reason (perhaps different hardware revision?).  It would be interesting to see what ends up there instead of the rockbox bootloader when the player is 'bricked'.

wildbug:
Sure, I can do that when I get home tonight.  Where do you want me to post/send it?

saratoga:
It should zip down fairly small, so anywhere you can upload it would be fine.  Let me know if you can't find hosting.

wildbug:
I thought it was gone for good.  I tried about a dozen times to revive it, finally walked away for a few hours, came back and it worked.  Then the DSL went out every time I tried to upload it.... grrr....  anyway, here it is.  bzip2 only lopped off ~3Mb, so I just uploaded the uncompressed file.
