Sandisk Fuze v1, running 3.8.1 often crashes when transfering music through usb

Hi, I have a Sandisk Fuze v1, 4gb,  running Rockbox 3.8.1.

It often crashes when i am trying to transfer data through the USB cable from my computer.
The computer runs Ubuntu 64 bit.

When I connect it, it mounts as a USB drive. When trying to drag/drop files it crashes.
I am usually able to transfer a few files, but then it crashes.

Any ideas or comments?

Does it work better or worse if you try a different computer?

deepcore:
I have tried my sandisk v1, 4gb on both a Ubuntu 64 bit and a laptop with Ubuntu 32 bit.
Both have the same problems.

I also have a sandisk v2, 2gb that does NOT have this problem
I have tried numerous times with different files, and it is the same every time - the v1 fails after 15-40 mb and there is no problem at all with the v2.

unfortunately the v2 has a broken powerbutton, so i cannot use that instead of the v1 :(

What player is the "V2"?

deepcore:
I have two Sandisk Fuze's
The one that crashes originally had the version 1.xx of the sandisk operating system. It therefore runs the rockbox designed to run on players with 1.xx firmware. This player is a 4gb

The one that does NOT crash ran sandisk firmware version 2.xx and therefore runs the rockbox that is designed to run on this chipset.

Both players run the same version of rockbox 3.8.1 but for different platforms.
