Clip+ Rockbox and Original Firmware to play .xm .s3m .mod modules
« on: May 03, 2011, 12:33:34 PM »
Hi,

Just to let you know I have asked to Sansa forum to implement modules reading in their firmware.

I'm pretty sure my request will be discarded but if the devs are motivated, it could be the first player ever to play mod files :)

If anyone wants to add some comment / enhance motivation, here is the post:
http://forums.sandisk.com/t5/Clip-Clip/Protracker-XM-S3M-TFMX-player/td-p/229856

Moreover, is it possible to make my own build of rockbox by taking away many codecs and simply let the ones I would like to use ?

Thanks in advance,
Sam

Waste of time.

Also a waste of time, but you can delete whatever codecs you like from your player.

You sound  a little bit skeptical for a developer...

Isn't there any soundtracker/protracker fan here anymore ?

If not, I understand your reply, but I still hope there is many people that wish playing a lot of their modules on a small mp3 player as the clip/clip+ !

They're probably using Rockbox.

Rockbox plays several module formats and there is some not yet complete work to play more. saratoga means that there is no need to remove any codecs from Rockbox, because only the codec that is in use is loaded.

I just found this post and I am a big fan of tracked music. Recently I bought Salsa Fuze and installed RockBox on it. Downloaded plenty of mod, it, xm, s3m modules and updated a database. To my surprise only the MOD's were added and are nicely playable in the main player. The rest of the tracker types are also playable but only by the mikmod plugin which is not so convenient as you can not resume the playback from where you stopped last time.

I would be really happy to see the xm, it, s3m support in the main RockBox player.
