Sansa Clip+ - Features?

(1/1)

Alman:
I have been searching for an alternative to the original OS. This way I have now Googled your website.

I'm desperately missing a few options on my Sansa Clip+:

* Changing playback speed (while jogging I need to speed up songs easily, regardless of the pitch)
* Higher volume (due to an European law all audio players must not exceed some very low volume output)
* Long directory names (the original OS always prefixes long folder names with some irrelevant number)
* Better file editing options using Windows Explorer (Windows 7/64; cannot delete directory containing read-only files, cannot remove read-only attribute from files, cannot create folders [folder name always remains "New Folder" in the player's database])
Does Rockbox provide these features?

Thanks for helping me out!

The Manual for your device, combined with the F.A.Q should answer your questions and more.

You could also try the Simulator for your device...

1. Look out for "Timestretch". If this is enabled, you can also set speed on the pitch screen.

2. While selecting some non-Euro region during setup will allow significantly higher volumes in the OF (the "Normal" volume setting is very limited these days, it'll barely even drive some HD590s adequately), Rockbox actually even goes a tad louder still.

3. The OF has never changed any folder names on its own for me. Certainly not in MSC mode.

4. Blame the OS, not the Clip+. That being said, the file browser in Rockbox does allow things like deleting files.

I'd say just go ahead and slap RB on there. It's dead easy, you only need an original firmware BIN file and the Rockbox Utility. Preferably look at skins and get the font pack though, since the default setup seems best suited for pilots and other sharp-eyed people.
