Rockbox Utility will not install

When I try to install RU I get a message saying configuration has changed and is incorrect. When I try to reconfigure using both auto and manual the box fades to grey and then stops running. What to do?

The buttons are greyed out because the configuration is invalid, as the message told you. Fix the configuration.

If you still have problems you need to be much more specific. Your description is close to a simple "doesn't work", and such a description isn't useful for people to help.

Okay, I'm using Windows 7 (64 bit) with a Sansa Clip+ synched in a USB slot. So  how do I fix the configuration?

There's still not much infornation ... anyway, does the clip have a drive letter in Windows Explorer? If not its in MTP mode. You need to switch to UMS mode. See the manual.

The Clip was in MSC mode and not showing up in Explorer. I switched to MTP mode, same result. I then tried the last USB option on the Clip which is Auto-Detect. This does show up in Explorer but I still get error messages when trying to install Utility. There is no UMS option on the player as I far as I can tell, so how and where do I 'switch'?

There's your problem.  Put it in MSC mode, then figure out why your computer's USB isn't working right.

Unlike your program, the computer's USB modes are working fine. Meantime, try to figure out how to write a useful error message.

You said above that its not working with your computer.  Is that incorrect?  If so, whats actually happening?  Its hard to help if you don't say what the problem is.

Ok first of all stop being an ass to the people of Rockbox.
Ok now, put your player in MSC mode hook it up, open rockbox utility, select your player, hit install boot loader, then hit install Rockbox, choose the stable build, disconnect and TA DA its MAGIC!

Ohh and by the way you need a manual install patch for your player before you can install the boot loader *or at least on the Sansa Fuze V2 you do

Meantime, try to figure out how to write a useful error message.

How about YOU figuring how to properly ask questions? People would have been able to give you a much quicker and better response if you did ask properly. Which includes being as specific as possible instead of some general "doesn't work" complain. Rockbox Utility works for a lot of people, if it doesn't work for you it's pretty likely it's your fault.

Besides, if you think you can make Rockbox Utility better: I'm awaiting your patches.

^ I agree without Rockbox Utility I belive people would have a harder time installing Rockbox.
The Utility makes it simple and easy to install! I did it without any problems!
