Bug Fix for an Open Source Course
(1/1)
Phalangees:
Hello,
I am taking a course on Open Source development and we are required to pick a project and attempt to fix a bug. My group picked Rockbox (obviously).
I am looking for a low/normal priority bug which should be relatively easy to fix for a few people just learning the codebase. I've got the bug tracker up, but I was looking to see if anybody had any bugs in mind that they want to see fixed.
Thanks for your help!

I have no idea why this is obvious but well :)

I don't think that will help you much. I'd rather try to find some area I'm interested in and check the tracker for known issues. Also, unless you strictly need to fix a bug (which I personally find a somewhat strange assignment) you could also try finishing one of the patches that's sitting around in the tracker. Looking after plugins might be the easiest start.
Getting to know how Open Source Development works hasn't much to do with fixing a bug. It's rather to figure how the community works together and to figure how to integrate into it.

Thanks for the advice BlueBrother! I will take a look at plugin patches/bugs in the tracker and see what I can come up with for my group to work on.

Oh, and did I say that communication is important? From my point of view that's the most important part: good communication, since that is the key of successfully working together. So I'd strongly suggest to come around to IRC (since that's the place where most communication happens for Rockbox).
