Intelligent bookmarking for audiobooks in salsa clip+
(1/1)
TOTAL:
I have been using rockbox for a while and it proves to be really great.
However, many @books listened to "simultaneously" may happen to be difficult to handle.
Here's why [please correct me where I am wrong].
There are ten bookmarks. When adding another bookmark for a file, the last one does not get deleted. Effect? After ten bookmarks to one file all the previous are lost.
I can think of an improvement as an option to the current settings, for user who listen to many things interchangeably and use bookmarks in order to mark the last position - not for special moments.
Two additional, intelligent bookmark non-exclusive updating modes:
1. smart update by file
new bookmark to the same file deletes the previous ones
2. smart update by folder
new bookmark in the same folder deletes the previous ones
If later bookmarks exist, ask what to do.
What do you think?
Llorean:
Try investigating the bookmarks options a little more. That's just the recent bookmarks list - no bookmarks are deleted unless you delete them.
Also, try the "unique only" option for bookmarks. That's basically what you're asking for with "smart update by folder" already.
It's a really good idea to know how things currently work before you start suggesting how you think they should work.
sideral:
The autoresume feature provides an approximation of what you call “smart update by file.†(It stores the resume positions in the database, not in a bookmark; hence, it requires the database.)
For remembering the last position in a multi-track audiobook or album, I use this patch, which highlights the last-played track in the corresponding database view: http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/12054
