Sansa Fuze v1 SDHC problem...
« on: April 17, 2011, 12:05:57 AM »
Hi, I have a sansa fuze v1 (checked version using the OF). Rockbox will not recognize my 16gb microsd card. It's a new Sandisk card that's been checked for authenticity, properly formatted, etc.

I previously had an 8GB Kingston microsd that worked fine. But Rockbox doesn't recognize the 16gb card at all- the system info says nothing's inserted into the microsd slot. I can use Rockbox USB mode to write to the card perfectly well, and the OF of the player reads it fine, but Rockbox just won't show it.

I researched this issue and it seems the clip+ and fuze v2 have it, but I haven't heard of it on the Fuze v1.

I would really appreciate any help, I don't have the money to buy a different player or card so I have to make this one work.

Thanks.

I can suggest a couple of changes to the sd card driver for this player to diagnose or work-around the problem.
Are you able to build rockbox from source (have the toolchain, know how to apply patches, etc.)?

Yes, I'm able to compile. I took the "simple guide to compiling" course about a week ago and was able to patch/compile something for a friend. I have an older Windows machine so I have to use Cygwin, which I've heard is slower than the other options (never had a chance to try Vmware).

The firmware on my player is r29714 if that helps.

Thanks

I tried the patches, I get the same error message with both-

amsv1_sd_normal_speed.patch:

"Hunk #1 FAILED at 338. 1 out of 1 hunk FAILED -- saving rejects to file firmware/target/arm/as3525/sd-as3525.c.rej"

amsv1_cmd6_delay.patch gives the same message, except the failure is at line 349.

The patch applies fine, so its probably something wrong with your check out.  Have you applied other patches?

Regardless, since both those patches change just one line each its probably not going to kill you to copy and paste the change manually ;)

Hmm... I had a fresh checkout, I just used the default svn ( svn co svn://svn.rockbox.org/rockbox/trunk rockbox). Strange that it wouldn't work. I don't mind patching it manually though- forgot about that earlier. There's no chance of a one-line manual patch messing up the firmware is there?

Finally finished compiling (cygwin took hours to do the arm-elf-eabi-gcc update, etc). It works! Thanks Bertrik.

This should be included in the next build, since it only changes one line there isn't much chance of a serious bug coming from it. I used the "amsv1_cmd6_delay.patch" for reference.

The length of the patch is completely irrelevant.
