Not recognizing Sansa Clip+

(1/3) > >>

TheAlmightyGuru:
I have a new Sansa Clip+, and I'm preparing to load Rockbox on it, but Rockbox Utility (1.2.8) doesn't recognize my Clip+.

If I try autodetecting, Rockbox Utility simply crashes.

Although the Sansa Clip+ shows up as a device in My Computer, it is not available if I Browse for my device. If I manually select the Clip+ and click OK, I get the error "Mountpoint does not exist".

Any ideas?

saratoga:
What drive letter does your clip have?  If the answer is "none", you probably skipped the USB mode step in the install directions.

TheAlmightyGuru:
Okay, after reading the FAQ I found out what I was doing wrong.

The Sansa Clip+ has its USB mode set to Autodetect by default, and Rockbox Utility requires MSC mode. I switched to MSC mode and Rockbox Utility identified it properly.

Perhaps it would be prudent to add some of the FAQs into Rockbox Utility as information messages? For example, if you select the Sansa Clip+ and Rockbox Utility doesn't find it as a drive letter, pop a message box reminding the user that they must go into settings and set the device into MSC mode.

I have the same issue... when i auto detect , sansa clip + shows up as the device in my computer and i get a "could not detect a mount point, select your mount point manually". My clip is in MSC mode

So what's the problem with this? Rockbox Utility tells you to select the mountpoint yourself, why don't you simply do that? That's not an error. And it's not the original issue (where Rockbox Utility crashes according to the report).
