Recorder V2 startup problems
« on: December 27, 2004, 07:10:41 PM »
About a month ago, I dropped my archos from about 8 inches onto a wooden floor. It has refused to boot since then.  When I hold down the on button, the lcd and lights power up. Then the status bar starts building, but stops at about 1/3 of the way. The harddrive spins (i think. i can feel the gyration effect at least) but it makes awful chirping noises much like a lost baby bird. it stops chirping and spinning after 3 minutes or so, but still refuses to boot. After ten minutes, this pops up on the screen:

HD register error
SC1  (85)   128
SN1  (170) 128
SC2  (170) 128
SN2  (85)   128

I'm using the daily build from 08-31-2004

If anyone has any solutions, please help. I really hope my hd isn't bad  :-\

Either your batteries are dead or the battery connectors are loose.

Try replacing the batteries. If that doesn't help, look here:

last night i opened the case and check all the connections. they're fine. the batteries are putting out 4.0, a good number i think. i'm really starting to think it's the HD.
