Sansa Fuze v2 - Loading firmware - File not found
(1/1)
ygaddy:
First of all, I just discovered Rockbox, and I am so excited about what y'all have done here. THANK YOU in advance for what I anticipate will be a long and happy relationship (between me and Rockbox!)!!
I loaded the standard ("release") version of Rockbox on my Sansa Fuze v2 on Sunday, loaded a couple of GB worth of music and audiobooks, and used it all day Monday. I ran a bunch of dynamic playlists, changed many of the settings, and tried out a number of the themes. Everything worked fine all day.
Today (Tuesday) the first time I turned it on I got a black screen with the message "Loading firmware - File not found." I have tried a dozen times and get the same result. I am still able to boot to the stock firmware holding the left button. (The database is empty when I boot this way -- I assume that's normal.)
I did search the forums but didn't find anyone with the same problem after it worked correctly. Any help on this problem? Thank you in advance!

Is the .rockbox folder still there? Does it have a rockbox.sansa file in it?
ygaddy:
Oh my goodness! :o It doesn't have ANYTHING in it! Not only can I not see the .rockbox folder, all of the music is gone as well! Have you heard of this happening before? It appears to be spontaneous combustion! :o

Check your USB setting in the OF. It will reset back to MTP mode after updating the firmware. You need to make sure it is set to MSC mode.
Also, make sure you always "eject" or "safely remove" your Fuze to prevent file system corruption.
ygaddy:
Thank you. I confirmed that it is still set to MSC mode and was ejected properly. Any other insights as to why the entire folder structure and all of the content would disappear?

I just asked my son if he had done ANYTHING that might have changed the Fuze on Monday night. "Oh, I was just looking through some settings, trying to get it back to how it was." "Did you select any settings?" "Format."
AAAAAAAaaaaaaaaah! :o Excuse me while I go write him out of the will...
Thank you both for your help.
