Sansa e270 stuck

I just installed version 3.8 on my Sansa e270 and now when I turn it on it immediately gets stuck at a screen that says "scanning disk." I've left it for a day and it still hasn't "finished" scanning. It won't connect to my computer or let my get to any menus. Any ideas?

Reboot into the original firmware, and then check the disk for errors.  You've probably got a corrupted file system.

FWIW you can make your player still boot with a mess up file system like that by disabling the directory cache feature most likely, but then skipping tracks will be marginally slower.

I'm far from a programing genius, sorry.  How do I reboot in the original firmware or disable the directory cache?  Thanks.
