3.8 File Transfer Bug
LyTning94:
I recently updated Rockbox on my Fuze v1 to 3.8, and now when I try and transfer files it displays the following two error messages:
--- Quote ---Cannot Copy (filename). Cannot find the specified file. Make sure you specify the correct path and filename.
Windows - Delayed Write Failed
Windows was unable to save all the data for file F:. The data has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere.
--- End quote ---
I succeeded in copying one song over to the player, but found out later when I tried to play it that the second half of the song was audio from another song on my player. I'm not sure how this happened, but it wasn't like that before.
Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, does anyone know how to fix it? I heard 3.8.1 is coming out soon; does that include changes that fix this issue?
[Saint]:
That sounds like a cached write failure due to <insert_reason_here>, or filesystem corruption on the player's disk.
From the error, it sounds like you're using a Windows operating system, so firstly check the filesystem:
1:-Backup important files, your Rockbox config.cfg (to preserve your settings) if you want to
2:-Right click on the disk in "My Computer"
3:-Select "Properties"
4:-Select the "Tools" tab
5:-Under the section "Error Checking" choose "Check Now"
You should now see a window with two options with checkboxes labled:
-Automatically fix filesystem errors
and
-Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors
6:-Select both of these options (or you can leave them unselected to do a "dry run" with no changes) and select "Start"
Wait for it to finish, filesystem errors and bed sectors (if any) will be fixed (if possible) and a log will be created on the root of the disk.
Now try to transfer files again.
If there are no filesystem errors to correct...
You might want to consider trying the transfer with delayed write caching disabled:
1:-Right click on the disk in "My Computer"
2:-Select "Properties"
3:-Select the "Hardware" tab
4:-Higlight the device in the list presented and select "Properties"
5:-Select the "Policies" tab
6:-Uncheck "Enable write caching on this disk"
Now try to transfer files again.

LyTning94:
I tried Error Checking like you suggested, but it said:
--- Quote ---Windows was unable to complete the disc check
--- End quote ---
I also went to Properties->Hardware as you suggested, and write caching was already disabled.
soap:
Not sure how the following could relate to a Fuze, but...
I've only ever gotten "Delayed Write Failed" error messages in Windows with external hard drives when the computer went into (forced) hibernation during a write.
LyTning94:
It's almost as if my fuze is disconnecting itself from the computer at the time of the write, because every time I try and write files the error messages appear and then the contents of the drive disappear from the directory, and if I go to Sansa Fuze (F:)->Properties, it says the drive has 0 disk space.
I never had this issue until I upgraded to 3.8, so I'm pretty sure it's the player not the computer. I'll try and downgrade back to 3.7.1 and see if I can get it to work then.
EDIT: Where can I redownload 3.7.1?
