There is not much point in just using a different TTS -- it's very well possible that the TTS you've used can be adjusted in speed. Without knowing which one you did use it's impossible to tell though (some TTS engines require configuring using command line parameter)

I managed to configure the TTS to slow the voice down and now all is working fine.
