Talk files out of sync with highlighted menu Iriver H340

(1/2) > >>

davidsol:
I have the recently installed Rockbox version 3.71 on an Iriver 340 which was at the same time upgraded to a 380. Since the upgrade, I find that in menus only, the voice file I hear is for the previous menu item e.g. when the cursor is on "System" the voice file says "Plugins" and so on.

I have tried replacing the talk files with new ones in Voicebox but this has not helped. This only occures with menus, not with music files.

Has anyone else encountered this problem or does anyone know how to resolve it ?

Any help gratefully recevied.

Tks, David

Doesn't VoiceBox only do .talk files?

Or can it build a .voice file also?

.talk files are for user generated content, .voice files are for the menu strings and other voiced things in the core.

Using RbUtil should guarantee you get the correct .voice file for your build (they can fall out of sync if one is updated and not the other iiuc).

Thanks [ST.], I'll try using RbUtil but I'm not very technical, until now I've just been using the voice.htm file and telling it which folder in which to create the files. I'll let you know how I get on.

This depends on the voice and TTS system used.

Is there a reason to install Rockbox 3.7 and not the current 3.8 (or at least the bugfix version 3.7.1)?

Thanks for your reply.

When installing RbUtil it automatically installed 3.8 and I then used the voice facility for the menus only. I had some diffculty when having to configure the TTS system, I just used the first one which didn't get rejected. I'll try again and use a different TTS if possible.
