Disktidy crashes Rockbox 3.8
« on: March 28, 2011, 08:30:10 AM »
Using default config-file, disktidy crashes Windows simulator (exits) and Linux simulator (segmentation fault after numerous SDL_WaitEvent() errors).
The crash occurs when tidying is performed, not when configuring.
Disktidy from 3.7.1 also seems to crash when built on 3.8.

Does the exact configuration matter?
Did you add (audio or other) files to the simdisk directory, or was this just the rockbox installation?
Have you tested on an actual player, and if so, does it work for you there?

I'm not cleaning anything, it's a dummy operation...

It fails with and without audio files - it seems that it manages to say it has 'cleanup 0 items'  before it dies.

It performs the (dummy) cleanup OK on a Clip+ 3.8, ie it returns normally to the RB UI.
The SDL-messages sort of imply that it could have something to do with the simulation, or?

The SDL messages are irrelevant.

Anyway, it's a bug in how the simulator handles file IO in plugins. I've now reported that as FS#12032

Thanks - has the simuator file IO handling changed significantly since 3.7.1 - when the plugin worked?

There have been changes, yes, related to the various Application ports and cleanups
