Classic install in linux
(1/1)
Squishy:
Been trying to do this for about two days now, after hours of searching and trying different things I still get the same issue. Tried in three different distros(BT4rs2, ubuntu, and joli), also tried in xp but the craptastic 3.5 netframe or whatever doodle doesn't want to install and setup.
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "ipoddfu.py", line 26, in <module>
import libipoddfu
File "/home/ninja/Downloads/libipoddfu.py", line 27, in <module>
import usb.core
Tried searching on that also and to no avail got nothing seemingly useful back.
Post Merge: March 16, 2011, 02:46:01 PMDid more digging and found some stuff I hadn't before, downloaded a library and another python folder not listed in the wiki and still getting the same "ImportError: No module named usb.core"
On the track of continuing the issue may be between me and python, and following many install pages on python I'm also getting "sh: Can't open setuptools-0.6c9-py2.4.egg".
Sorry if this isn't where this should go but it's my best idea on where to put it.

Hi there,
I had the same problem as you and I was able to solve it. At least with the help of the support team of emCORE.
Your version of pyusb is probably outdated as mine was. Please read http://www.freemyipod.org/wiki/EmCORE_Installation/iPodClassic/PrepareDFULinux . The wiki was updated today.
Rockbox is running fine (with minor flaws) on my Ipod Classic 2nd Edition. :)
Hope this helps or you have sorted this out by yourself!

I will get on trying that tonight or tomorrow, sorry it took so long. I actually quit even checking back here and forgot about this for awhile.
Thanks a bunch!

Thanks for the post! I was able to check out the wiki and it was very helpful in setting up my Linux.
