clip+: brick alike while playing, "soft" reset helped to recover. why?

mlt:
I apologize if this topic is misplaced.

Today I was listening for mp3 from microSDHC card on my Sansa Clip+ with r29209-110205 version of rockbox and somewhat fully charged battery, when it suddenly died in the middle of a playback. I was feeling miserable as holding power off didn't resurrect it as well as connecting to usb. Luckily I came across this thread where besides attempt to dry wet player with hydrophilic rice, they mentioned about soft reset like holding volume up + power off for 20 sec, then 20 sec pause, and power on as usual. It did resurrect my sansa.

Why could it die out of nothing? It was not wet and it was normal (~34F) ambient temperature. Is it a hardware issue or something in Rockbox can cause it? It never happened before.

funman:
could be a bug in rockbox, who knows
