Dick Smith 8GB mp3 player
« on: March 12, 2011, 02:29:05 AM »
Hey guys, I'm new and wondering whether you would have support for a Dick Smith 8GB mp3 player (NOT MP4)?

Thanks,
Chattaboxa

No, Rockbox only supports the devices listed on the main page.
New Ports are also not feature ideas.

Not that Rockbox offers currently, you can check out what's required for a port to this device here in the development section of our wiki.
Specifically the NewPorts page.

The players presently usable with Rockbox are listed on the home page.

iPod Classic is being developed
Android application is being developed
Sansa Clip+

All are current, though iPod Classic and Android are in various states of un-usability at that time.

I'm closing this thread because you have been pointed to the relevant pages on New Ports, and this is really not a "Feature Idea".

IF there were a firmware replacement (for that is what Rockbox is, not a modification but rather a replacement) for your MP3 player it would most likely be Rockbox, or a fork thereof.  The world of alternative DAP firmwares is rather small, and Rockbox's "gravitational pull" is strong enough that most everybody ends up here.
