autostart playing a song after power-on
« on: March 10, 2011, 05:16:59 AM »
hello,

i hope that this is the right forum for my question.

for a little exhibition we need an mp3 player which is capable of playing a 10 min soundfile continously after beeing powered on.
usually this cannot be achieved with commercial players.

i was hoping i could do this with rockbox?
can i?

the hardware would be a player without a battery hooked up to an external power supply.
the powersupply gets turned on / off once a day.

thanks for all help and suggestions!

This should be fine - set Repeat mode to Repeat One, then set Start Screen to Resume Playback.

I'm not sure if this will work without a battery. Not all hardware can run straight from an external power supply.

I'd say your best bet is to leave the battery in, use a player that doesn't stop in the bootloader if it detects power (some players do charging in the bootloader, which is annoying in this case), and set the car adapter mode setting. That has the effect of pausing playback when external power is removed. After the idle timeout expires (again, you can configure this if the defaults don't suit you) it will then switch off.

Of course you could connect the power supply to the battery leads, but I'm not at all sure if that's a safe or sane thing to do
