FM radio missing from menu
ivida:
Hi,
i have recently 'discovered' Rockbox and installed it on all players
of the family ;-). It's really great and everybody love it.
There is however one problem that puzzles me: on a Sansa Clip v1
the FM Radio is missing from the menu. I haven't found any similar
complaint on the forum.
Could anybody give me any hint/advice on this?
May be a few more bits of info:
- the clip is a refurbished one but runs fine with the Sansa OS
- tested RockBox 3.8 and the latest build
- there is the option to set the FM Radio as the start-up screen,
if this is set the screen goes blank and the Clip freezes.
Many thanks

I just installed the current build (r29539) and I do have FM radio in my Clip v1. Does this behavior occur with all builds you have used? It's possible that there's an undocumented hardware revision and your player is using a different FM chip that Rockbox doesn't know how to use.

I think this has something to do with fm chip detection or with the i2c bus or driver that the fm chip is connected to.
I've seen this reported a few times before, but it's impossible for me to reproduce (and fix) it.
It's unlikely that it uses a different FM chips than other Clip v1's, but you never know.

Many thanks for your response.
I haven't tested any other builds apart from the latest one and the
'stable' 3.8 but the result was the same with both - so i assumed
it is not an issue with the software version (especially that a v2 and
a clip+ functions perfectly with the same two versions).
As to the hardware, it was sold as a 'Manufacturer Refurbished'
item so it may have some modifications, but the sansa OS, several
releases of v1 tested, works fine.
Do you think testing RockBox v2 would make any sense?
Thanks again

Silly but obvious question: does the radio work in the original firmware?
