Best hardware for digital output (S/PDIF over Toslink or coax)
« on: March 05, 2011, 01:24:38 AM »
If you need a digital output -- S/PDIF over Toslink or coax, what's the best player to run Rockbox on?

Thanks!

The iriver H100 series (H120/H140) have S/PDIF in/out. Try eBay for one.

That's the only hardware supported by Rockbox that does have S/PDIF connectors.

Not if you want to keep it relevant to the topic of Rockbox,

Lambda already noted that the H100 series is the only Rockbox supported player with S/PDIF.

I'm not exactly sure which models have S/PDIF, but are you sure you want a device that can only do mp2/mp3 audio (or wav using a plugin)?

My Archos Jukebox Recorder 20 has a 1/8 jack connector on top identified as "digital in/out".

I don't think it is optical though, but I might be wrong, I have never used it.

Not sure what you have against the iriver but I have an h120 I would sell. And an h115 in grey too. I don't do mobile recording anymore so have not used them in some years.
